Day 2

We had a successful first night in that there were no accidents in his cage; I woke up at every little noise (can anyone say "new mom"?). We had a little whining a couple of times through the night but overall it was better than I expected.

We spent our first full day trying to get to a read on him better. I learned his tell for when he was about to go poop (a little pulling on the leash and then turning in a circle a couple of times and boom.

We had our first field trip that day. First stop was Grandpa's house. So many kisses.

Stop number two was to watch a little Dex Puck hockey at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. This was the first socialization/exposure that we had and people had warned us that it might be a little overwhelming for him with all the noise and all the people. But this is what happened:

Mallory spent as much time taking the dog out as she did watching the game. After the game Mallory and the guys went out to eat so Adley went with them to Buffalo Wild Wings. I don't think he ate any chicken bones.

Night two in his cage was a little better than night one. Less whining and faster to settle = more sleep for mom.

End of Day 2.

Day 1 - Puppy Pick Up Day!

Our pickup day was Friday January 10 and we had to be in Rochester Hills at 9am. Mallory was still home for winter break and wanted to go with me but was a little unsure about having to leave the house at 7:30am to make the trek. Alas, the great ones adjust (THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE, MOM) and she accompanied me.  Once we went inside the puppy building at the Leader Dog Campus, there was a puppy playroom with windows and puppies were inside playing. In the playroom. Mallory could hardly stand it. We had been told we were likely getting "blue collar" from the Iris x Dobby litter and based on what we knew about that litter, he was one of the biggest. So when we saw a chunkalicious chunk in a blue collar in the playroom, Mallory & I could hardly stand it even more.  We were finally called back into the room. There were four puppies being picked up that day, all from the same litter. Each corner of the room had a station with all of our supplies for this adventure.  I h...
